Event Details:

Winter Lights Across Canada is an annual Government of Canada initiative where monuments and important sites are illuminated in a display of holiday lights across the country on the same night. This event brings together Canadians in their communities so everyone can participate and join in the spirit of the season. The City of Yellowknife and the Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly are excited to take part in this festive tradition.

Members of the public are invited to come enjoy the festivities. The schedule will take place in Yellowknife as follows:

4:45PM: Gather at the Somba K’e amphitheater and watch Mayor Alty signal for the illumination of the dazzling lights display at Somba K’e Civic Plaza and City Hall.

5:00PM: From City Hall, walk to the Legislative Assembly by following the holiday lights on the pathway from the Museum and warm up with hot beverages and cookies courtesy of the Sundog Trading Post, enjoy live music from the Sir John Franklin Jazz Band, and view Christmas trees decorated by kindergarteners from Yellowknife, Ndılǫ and Dettah. Watch Speaker Blake turn on the lights in the Great Hall and welcome a special visitor from the North Pole!
