Event Details:

In collaboration with L’Association franco-culturelle de Yellowknife (AFCY), we’re bringing you the 2024 film Bergers/Shepherds — an adaptation of Mathyas Lefebure's semi-autobiographical novel D'où viens-tu, berger?.

WHEN: Sunday, May 11th at 4PM
WHERE: Capitol Theatre

ABOUT:
A Canadian-French drama follows Mathyas, a Montreal advertising executive who abandons city life to become a shepherd in Provence. Faced with physical labor and personal transformation, Mathyas begins a demanding apprenticeship in the rugged mountains. His path takes a new turn with the arrival of Élise, a civil servant searching for meaning. Together, they embark on a transhumance, forging a new existence shaped by nature, hardship, and renewal.

GENRE: Drama
DIRECTOR: Sophie Deraspe
STARRING: Félix-Antoine Duval, Solène Rigot, Younes Boucif

LANGUAGE: French with English subtitles

What People Are Saying:

“Shepherds adapts Lefebure’s memoir D'où viens-tu, berger? and might thrill audiences with its notion of connecting with a traditional way of life, while leaving them equally daunted by the realities of it. This is a touching, soul-stirring film that rejuvenates a viewer like a crisp flick of fresh air.”
